The East Central Health District Conducts Full-Scale Exercise
THIS IS ONLY A DRILL
The East Central Health District (ECHD) will be conducting a full-scale exercise on March 19, 2005 in Glascock and Emanuel Counties to test/evaluate operational procedures and policies as it relates to responding to terrorism incidents.
Exercising operational procedures is essential for successful operation in real-world situations. “People will perform, as they have been trained”, explains the ECHD Emergency Coordinator, Mr. Charles Reneau. The most hands-on-training is that which leaves the participant with a clear sense of the correct actions to be implemented and /or performed in a specific situation or event.
Effective approaches to planning, training, and exercises have been developed to mitigate the effects of natural and man-made disasters. State and local personnel must prepare to prevent and respond to new threats to public safety from terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high explosive weapons.
This exercise will focus on District 6’s role in response to potential consequences of a bioterrorist event. The emphasis is on coordination, integration of capabilities, problem identification, resolution, and collaboration with emergency responders.
