Richmond County Mosquito Spraying
(Augusta, GA) – Richmond County Health Department will be using their truck-mounted
ULV (ultra-low-volume) mosquito sprayers to spray for mosquitoes in Richmond County.
Since Hurricane Helene, an increase in mosquitoes has been reported. To assist with
mosquito control during this time, Richmond County Health Department will switch from
individual residence spraying to spraying entire streets and neighborhoods.
Residents are encouraged to apply mosquito repellent and avoid going outside at dusk
and dawn when mosquitoes are most active. Psorophora mosquitoes are the very large
mosquitoes that people have been seeing, and they are often active during the daytime
To eliminate mosquito breeding habitats, tip and toss any items that hold standing water
around a residence.
Mosquitoes can be a vector for diseases; therefore, it is very important to always wear
long sleeves and pants (in addition to mosquito repellent) if you must be outside.
