Floodwater and Mosquitoes: Stay Safe After the Storm

🦟 Floodwater and Mosquitoes: Stay Safe After the Storm 🦟
After severe weather, standing water can lead to an increase in mosquito activity. Protect yourself and your loved ones from mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile Virus by following these important tips:
✅ Wear insect repellent with DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
✅ Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors.
✅ Avoid going outside at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
✅ Drain standing water from flowerpots, toys, pools, and buckets—mosquitoes breed in standing water!
✅ Make sure doors and windows are tightly sealed.
🩺 If you experience symptoms like fever, headaches, neck stiffness, or flu-like symptoms, notify your healthcare provider immediately.
Using an EPA-registered insect repellent is safe and effective, even for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Always follow the label instructions for the best protection.
