Know Your Numbers. Protect Your Heart.

February is American Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and the steps we can all take to protect our heart health.

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Many risk factors—such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes—often have no noticeable symptoms, making regular screening and awareness especially important.

That’s why this month we’re highlighting our Know Your Numbers campaign.

What Does “Know Your Numbers” Mean?

Knowing your key health numbers gives you a clearer picture of your heart health and helps catch potential issues early—before they become serious.

The most important numbers to know include:

  • Blood Pressure – High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease and stroke

  • Cholesterol – High cholesterol can lead to plaque buildup in arteries

  • Blood Sugar (A1C) – Elevated levels can indicate diabetes or prediabetes

Understanding these numbers empowers you to make informed decisions about your health and work with healthcare providers to reduce your risk.

Why Heart Health Matters

Your heart works nonstop to keep your body functioning. When heart health is neglected, it can lead to serious conditions such as heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. The good news is that many heart-related conditions are preventable with early detection and healthy lifestyle choices.

Simple Steps to Support a Healthy Heart

  • Know your numbers and check them regularly

  • Eat a balanced, heart-healthy diet

  • Stay physically active

  • Manage stress and get enough sleep

  • Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol use

Our Commitment to Heart Health

Throughout February, we’ll be sharing heart health education, prevention tips, and information about opportunities to check your numbers and learn more about your heart health.

We encourage everyone to take time this month to focus on their heart—because knowing your numbers today can help protect your health tomorrow.
