Testing Results from Tuberculosis (TB) Investigation Conducted at Warren Road Elementary School

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016 TB screening skin testing was conducted at Warren Road Elementary School on individuals that were identified as possibly having had contact with a TB case at the school.  The TB screening results show that of the 72 contacts identified, 71 were screened, with 1 test result pending from a private provider.  Screening skin test results from 4 contacts indicated TB exposure. Those identified with TB exposure have been referred for further evaluation. This only means that they were exposed, not that they have active TB. No additional active TB cases have been detected.

In the United States, tuberculosis is easily treatable, and most patients experience a full recovery.  Even after becoming infected, many people who have the TB bacteria in their bodies will never develop the active disease.  The key is early detection.
