Fireworks Safety

As July 4th approaches, many families will be together with friends and neighbors to celebrate the holiday watching the fireworks in the night sky. July 4th celebrations can be fun but we must remember that fireworks should be handled with caution to prevent accidental injuries. Be careful this summer season to prevent anyone from injuring themselves. If you have children playing with fireworks or doing something that does not look safe, tell a trusted adult.

Water Safety

Summertime is the time to visit the swimming pool. Children should be taught to swim at an early age. Younger children should never be left alone in or near a swimming pool, wading pool, pail of water, bathtub, toilet or any other body of water. Knowing how to swim does not make a child injury or drown proof, but may help in an emergency situation. Children should be taught what to do in case of a water emergency. Children who know simple rescue techniques will be less likely to panic. If someone in the water needs help, they should know to TOW, THROW, ROW, GO.
